emains of the old town Tržac can be found on a pleasant hill above mount of
Mutnica to Korana. It was a part of Tribal State of Drežnik, which belonged
to Babonićs in the end of the 13
th
and the beginning of the 14
th
century. Since 1323 it
belonged to Frankopans who later named themselves after Tržac. In the second half
of the 16
th
century crew of 20 soldiers paid by King guarded the town. It fell under the
Ottomans' authority in 1584 and stood uninhabited till 1626, when permanent crew
under command of assistant of Bihać Captain was settled in it.
The crew had 150 border guards. In the first half of the 18
th
century it increased
to 200 men. The fortress had 3 bigger and 3 smaller cannons. Until the half of the 19
th
century Tržac had strong military crew but the ramparts were damaged even then.
