Having read and reviewed the manuscript of “Old towns of Una-Sana Canton”
submits the following report from the proposal.
Old towns in the area of ​the Una-Sana Canton represent one specific characteristic
as rare areas in the world. The fact that there was a life, with all its complexities time
in which it happened, as well as continued, which was persisting, inevitably led us
to the notion of lasting social relationships between people. This duration is carried
within itself the relation of superiors and subordinates in the population. These cities
testify to the established system of defense of the Bosnian state during the fourteenth
and fifteenth centuries, but also the internal relationships. They had a national defense
function in state formats, through which it could implement other vital functions of
the population as the foundation to preserve the overall ruling system. At the same
time it can be seen as the work of human hands, as the result of the most complex
aspects of organized labor of the community that was then.
The authors of this book clearly describe the value of supporting the old towns
with the impressive photographs, heraldic features, floor plans, maps, geo-shootings,
drawings, etc. Through their representation is clearly evident not only their histo-
riographical development but also their necessaried transformationswhich was the
result of the reality of the existence of different states and systems in these areas. Facts,
as a historical character, strongly emphasize this dimension of the old cities where
wereexpressed the libertarian aspirations of the population in the fight against the
then-superpower Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Because of
that, there was especially prominent the character of the Bihać fort as “the ramparts
of the frontier” and “wrench ange” which was one of the largest and most important
fortresses Bosnian eyalet and as such as the best kept, throughout the Ottoman period.
Through thelong siege, it was never occupied during that period, but shortly after the
Austro-Hungarian occupation, the fortress was demolished and the town was involved
in the infrastructure of a modern urban center.
Giving the necessary information about the cities, authors evaluated the old
towns’ actual moment of an emphasis on the conservation and protection as objects of
