Sokol fell under the Ottomans' command in 1592 and it got permanent military
crew commanded by assistant of captain of Bihać. In the beginning of the 16
th
century
the town had a small crew of 19 men. Later the crew was transferred and in the official
list from 1643 it wasn’t mentioned. In the middle of the 18
th
century the crew included
20 men and fortress had two smaller cannons for defense.
Lately, Sokolac was one of the most preserved old towns in this area. In 1898 it
was restored by Governor of Bihać area, Count Lothar Berks. Since then it was opened
for visitors. Later one level of tower was transformed into a tavern where postcards
and informations about the town could have been found. The last restore of this old
town was preformed in 1953.
