rašac is a small town on a steep hill not far from right bank of Una River, 11
kilometers below Kulen Vakuf. The oldest part of the town is tower which was en-
larged in Ottomans' period (the beginning of the 18th century), time of Sultan Ahmed
II. This sultan had built a mosque in town and it was named after him.
Orašac was a part of Captaincy of Ostrožac and had a crew of 50 men under
command of the fortress commander. The town had one bigger and two smaller
cannons.
According to the oral tradition this was the hometown of Budalina Tale (Tale
from Lika), the national hero described in poems.
