O
n a high and steep hill on the right Una riverbank, between villages Grmuša
and Srbljani, still can be seen remains of foundations of old town Obrovac. The
foundations have rectangular shape, 40 meters in length and 15 meters in width.
It is not known when this town was formed but some sources from the beginning
of the 15
th
century are mentioning the Dukes of Obrovac.
In the second half of the 15
th
century this town was protected by crew of King’s
soldiers.
In that time castellan of Obrovac was Pavao Krnjčić. He put up a stronger resi-
stance to the Ottomans' army in 1488. By the end of the 15
th
century the castellan of
Obrovac was noble Juraj Sladović. The Hungarian King in 1501 gave all his rights over
the town to Juraj.
Obrovac fell under Ottomans' authority in the first half of the 15
th
century and it
was completely ruined.
