n the place where this town was settled now can be seen just remains of foun-
dations 25 meters long and rests of rounded tower with 8 meters diameter. In
the sources this town was mentioned for the first time in the 13
th
century under name
Gaj. Name Donja Kladuša came later. It was in property of the Dukes of Kladuša and
by the middle of the 16
th
century in property of Frankopans of Slunj.
In 1570 in Mala Kladuša, Krajina leadership set 10 guards. Seven years later its
crew increased to 40 regular soldiers and 50 horsemen. However, in 1585 Mala Kladuša
was deserted and stood that way till 1633 when Ottomans' crew settled in it. The master
of the crew was aga as assistant of captain of Ostrožac.
