T
he old town Jezerski can be found about 4 kilometers in the west of Otoka. It is
settled on a long slope, which overturns into a pleasant valley. In the sources for
the first time Jezerski was mentioned in 1278. From the construction sight this town
is very interesting. It represents the special kind of old towns, which were improved
in later period. In the middle of Jezerski was high rounded tower whose walls were 1.8
meters wide. The entrance was 4 meters above the ground. Around the tower was firm
and 7 meters high wall in a shape of quadrangle (16 meters in length and 12 in width).
This town was built before people made the first fire weapon and proves for this are
circled holes in the wall that were used for shooting the arrows out. At first this town
belonged to a free noble municipality and by the end of the 15
th
century masters were
Nemčićs. In 1563 crew of 16 King’s soldiers guarded the town.
It was part of Krupa Captaincy. Ottomans' authorities made a wooden mosque
and a few buildings and rounded all together with new ramparts. The military crew
was settled in town and it was under command of Fortress Commander who has been
subjugated to Captain of Krupa. Until the middle of the 17
th
century this crew had 23
border guards and later it increased to 30 border guards. In the first half of the 18
th
cen-
tury the crew was doubled and had 60 men and the fortress got two smaller cannons.
