ld town Cazin is an old and firmly built fortress on a steep hill next to many
springs of water. Someday it was the palace of Bishop of Knin. The Bishop po-
ssessed a document attesting to get this town as a present by King Bela with assertion
of the borders. Bishops of Knin through the 14
th
century dwelled in fortress of Cazin.
Near to this fortress aroused opened settlement. Cazin became important to Knin
Bishopric especially after it came under the Ottomans' authority in 1522. Since then for
almost 50 years Knin Bishops dwelled in Cazin and commanded other parts of their
Bishopric from there. In 1563 20 King’s soldiers guarded this town.
