It came under the Ottomans' authority in 1576 and became a part of Captaincy of
Krupa. By the official list made 10 years later, Ottomans' military crew included all five
branches of guards, sum of 200 men. In the beginning of the 17
th
century there were no
more horsemen, and the total sum of soldiers was reduced to 113 and after that, around
the middle of 17
th
century, increased to 131. By quantity of weapons in the first half of
the 18
th
century this was one of the most important fortresses in Krajina: it had two
bigger and three smaller cannons and crew of 250 border guards. The remains of this
town nowadays can be seen on a small hill south of today’s Bužim.
