The old town Bužim was formed in 14
th
century. According to the charter of the
King from 1336 this town was under command of noble Grgur Gales. His descendants
commanded in this town till 1425. Later this town was under the order of Babonićs of
Blagaj, Countess of Celje, Frankopans, and in 1479 the Hungarian King gave it to the
noble Jurij Mikulčić. He carried out the repairing of town’s fortress with building up
the wall around the town. Since 1495 till falling under the Ottomans' authority masters
of Bužim were brothers Ivan and Petar Keglević and because of that they became Ke-
glevićs of Bužim. In that time the fortress of Bužimwas protected by 16 King’s soldiers.
