n the historical sources Otoka was mentioned for the first time in 1264. In that time it
was in property of the Dukes Babonićs of Blagaj. Town had a permanent crew under
command of castellan. It fell under the Ottomans' authority in 1565 and became a part
of Captaincy of Krupa. The crew maintained permanent until 1838. The commander of
crew was Ćehaja (assistant) of Captain of Krupa. One of the Austrian reports from 1834
says that fortress of Otoka was weak with 4 cannons in it. On the small island of Una
River (today Bosanska Otoka) the remains of old rampart can be barely seen.
