of military detachments. In architectural terms, this change is reflected in the con-
struction of new facilities and the expansion of the city, to strengthen the defensive
ramparts. From the Ottoman conquest, and finally the arrival of the Austro-Hunga-
rian, an old cities are gradually annealed which ultimately resulted in their unkempt.
Archival material including historical charts and maps, family crests, old photo-
graphs and oral narratives, meticulously considered in the context of understanding
and determination of the status of the old city (city or Fortress or free town), their
accommodation (which the Bihac stands out as one of the few lowland cities), and
families who run them.
