T
he old town Šturlić is placed on a small slope above Korana River near to Bosnian-
Croatian border. In the sources for the first time it was mentioned in 1459 and it
was in property of noble Šturlić family. In the second half of the 16
th
century crew of
10 soldiers guarded the town. Soon this town was deserted and it stood uninhabited
till 1670. Then Ottomans' authorities restored it and placed permanent military crew
inside. In the first half of the 18
th
century this crew included 150 border guards and they
had one bigger and two smaller cannons. In 1833 Šturlić was mentioned in the official
list of towns made by Ottomans' National Commission. It had permanent military
crew and 6 cannons.
