T
he old town Stijena was settled on the northeast of Cazin on the road to Bosanska
Krupa. In the sources for the first time it was mentioned in 1483 as property of
Babonićs of Blagaj. In that time in town they kept their castellans and other servants
who governed their property and town defense. In the second half of the 16
th
century
the town was guarded by 6 guards paid by King. Stijena fell under the Ottomans'
authority in 1575. The Ottomans' authorities repaired town ramparts and posted per-
manent military crew under command of fortress governor.
