Ripać
Its favorable position near military road contributed to development of opened
settlement with 50 houses. This way, settlers of Ripač in 1527 had some old rights
confirmed by Nikola Jurišić, representative of King Ferdinand. Since that year Ripač
had its military crew under command of castellan. In 1537 this crew included 25 pe-
destrian, 21 horsemen and 6 guards. In the second half of the 16
th
century crew of 60
King’s soldiers guarded the town.
Under the Ottomans' authority it fell in 1592. Permanent Ottomans' military crew
under command of Captain of Bihać settled in it. In the beginning of the 18
th
century
the crew included 40 men. In time of siege of Bihać in 1697 border guards of Karlovac
took Ripač and deserted it. In 1883 Ripač had two useful cannons. The crew left fortress
few years later.
